4. June 1857.
My dear Mr Gregory.
I beg to inform you that I despatched this day the duplicate of the botanical report
to you by the mail. I arrived only late on Wednesday
here after a boisterous passage of four days and was so seasick as to be unable to
do anything on board. Thus the transmission of the document has been somewhat delayed.

For Mr Baines information I have to say, that the "true Brittain" (Barque) is leaving
here on the 13th instant according to Newspaper accounts. Saloon passage according
to agreement.
I hope to be able to see you yet on your way to Western Australia and to have the
pleasure of spending a few hours at least with you, if you avail yourself of the steamer.
Allow me, dear Sir, to express once more my great regard for you and my gratitude
for your kindness towards me.

Most recently, when M was about to take ship for Melbourne, Gregory had successfully
applied for M's passage to be treated as part of the expense of his expedition; see
Gregory to H. Parker, 23 May 1857 (No. 57/2130, 4/3358 letters received, Colonial Secretary's Department, Archives Authority
of New South Wales, Sydney), and Parker to Gregory, 28 May 1857 (No. 57/2130, MS Q427,
Dixson Library, State Library of New South Wales, Sydney),
Obediently yours
Ferd. Mueller
